Food in general, the staple for health and wellness. However, not just any kind of foods, but clean and healthy foods referring to whole foods. And, speaking of whole foods, there’s nothing more delicious and nutritious than green veggies, and fruits. But, that’s not all! These foods are also rich in flavonoids.
The good news, one study published at The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition1 found that foods containing a high amount of flavonoids may be helpful in lowering risk of erectile dysfunction in men. Flavonoids have an antioxidant effect, which is good for the entire body. No wonder, when eating these foods on regular can also lower risk of developing sexual dysfunction, and most likely not just men but for women, as well.
Flavonoids are a range of nutrients and scientists found that particular flavonoids like flavones, anthocyanins, and flavonones are the ones being found more beneficial when it comes to sexual health in men on this study. Abundant sources of flavones and flavonones include citrus fruits while anthocyanins are abundant in berries, red apples, as well as on fruits that are purple, red, and blue.
However, before you go out and buy a lot of these flavonoid-rich foods, scientists are also clear considering other healthy lifestyle factors including caffeine and alcohol consumption, body weight, and of course, certain medications can affect and may cause erectile dysfunction. So, this is not just about eating flavonoid-rich foods, but make it a part of a healthy lifestyle, eating clean and nutritious foods particularly whole foods and organic along with regular physical activities.
